Wrexham Village Bakery Half Marathon

Sunday 14th February – Report by Dave Wootton

12 club members made the short trip to an actually sunny Wrexham Industrial estate, for what was a record number of runners.
There had been emails of a possible course re route due to flooding, but the waters receded, so the same course of 1 short loop followed by a larger one ensued.
A group of Buckley runners set of together until around the mile mark, when the quicker guys kicked on into their race paces.

Several won awards in the N Wales championship:

  • Simon Roberts was the first runner in blue home in sub 1.20 and 1st v45.
  • Chris Callaghan was 2nd in just over 1.20
  • Lee was 1st v50 in just over 1.30
  • Ceri just 16 seconds behind Lee and 1st v45 female.
  • Sam bagged another PB and 2 medals
  • Paul and Tim came in within a minute of each other
  • Steve Bellis was doing a 1.40 pacing practice and was just outside that in 1.42, but bagged a 3rd place v60 medal.
  • I managed a PB in just under 1.44 and got 2nd place in age group, followed by Paul who unfortunately suffered a nose bleed on most of the course.
  • Lisa did a very good 2.04 in her first ever race
  • With Jason and Chrissy running together to finish just over 2.33

So another great performance by Buckley runners.

So if a few of us are suffering tomorrow on intervals, spare a thought.
