Christleton 5k

Christleton 5k – 20-05-016 by Dave Wotton

6 Buckley runners made the short trip to leafy Christleton this evening, after parking up a short walk past a range of students in varying length of dress to the registration.
A warm up jog to the start followed and positions taken in the designated perceived finish time zone. Rather worryingly, myself, Hazel Berrett and John Morris were at the back in the end zone of sub 22 minutes.

For those who have not done it before, it is a very gently undulating course of 1.75 laps, making it a fast course, with runners from as far as Telford, Liverpool, and Swinton making the trip.
The weather just about held off for us, with minimal wind and just a little light drizzle.

Results wise, team coach Eric came in a grumpy 17.14, hopefully he can break 17 mins tomorrow at Prestatyn.
Karl Williams continued his impressive run of form, with an excellent time of 19.18 in his first official 5k.
Next came Gareth Houghton breaking sub 20 minutes again with 19.57 on his road to recovery
I managed a PB of 21.17, 51 seconds quicker than the 5k a year ago, but still slightly miffed not to do sub 21 – Eric did put me in my place telling me I should be up wth Karl and Gareth, so must try harder ????

Hazel Berrett came next in a nicely rounded 22.22 following a tight calf halfway round, a good effort following her fall earlier in the week.
Evergreen John Morris brought in the team in 25.05 – hope I can run anywhere near that at over 70 ????
So a good night for Buckley runners .

Also a thank you for Chris Shaw for tagging along, looking after our swag and taking pictures.
4 of us did pop into the Swan in Kinnerton for rehydration purposes on the way home I discuss our next exploits.
Great club, great guys and gals.
