Racing with Buckley Runners

Members, both men and women, of the club are involved in most forms of middle and long distance running. It includes

 

Road Running

Developing road running was our original purpose and is still our core activity. Individuals from the club enter a wide range of road races (including championships) such as Flintshire 10km, Abergele 5, Conwy Half, Wrexham Half Marathon, Twin piers, Chester Spring 5, Sutton 10km.

The club competes in the Borders Road Running League. These races are free to enter for club members who are registered with the appropriate athletics association (usually Welsh Athletics).  There are 7 Borders League races between October and April each year.

 

Cross Country

We having been competing in the North Wales Cross Country League for about 10 years. These races are free to enter for first-claim members who are registered with the appropriate athletics association. There are 5 cross-country races between October and April each year. Individuals and teams enter North Wales and Welsh Championships and the Welsh (and British) Masters

 

Marathon and Ultra distance

Club members have a long history of competing in longer distance races. These include London Marathon, Chester Marathon and Metric Marathon, other marathons both in UK and abroad, Lakeland 50, Hardmoors 60, Dawn to Dusk, and even 24 hour races. We have some very experienced distance runners always willing to support those aspiring to complete a marathon or improve their times.

 

Multi-terrain

Running on mixed terrain appeals to many of the club members. Groups from the club train off-road all year. We do many MT races such as Deestriders Off-road Grand Prix, Alwen Reservoir, Llyn Brenig and Halloween Hellraiser

 

Fell

We have a strong fell running group. They train regularly ion the hills and compete in a wide range of races include Clwydian summers series, Moel-y-Gamelin, Pen Fell, Cader Idris, and the North Wales and Welsh Fell Running Championships
